Yes, it is OpenVG-related and has to do something with the drawing of very large images. In case of this Flickr demo it is known for sure that big pictures will trigger the fallback to tiled drawing in the VG backend. However why there are gaps between the tiles, that has to be checked. The same demo application was known to be working about 3 months ago and there have been no changes on VG paint engine side since that. I'll have to try it again.
Note that the screenshots look weird. There is a standard Avkon statuspane and softkey area visible. This is not normal. The Flickr demo app is supposed to be a standalone, fullscreen Symbian application. Was it run via qmlviewer? If so, please be aware this it is not the correct way to run qml applications on Symbian. There they will almost always be deployed as a normal, standalone app. In case of the Flickr app, the correct way is to install and run the "qmlflickr" application from qt/demos/embedded/qmlflickr.
