Description
This works:
Download Qt 4.7.4 for Windows (with VS2008 builds) and after the installation try the demos and run the Browser example (e.g. Fancy Browser). Go to e.g. www.html5test.com and see that video and audio is supported. Note that Qt4.7.4 includes QtWebKit 2.0.2, an older version.
This does not work:
Download Qt 4.8 rc1 for Windows (with VS2008 or VS2010 builds, both are affected) and do the same to test the audio/video support as desribed above. You will see that audio / video is not supported! Note that Qt4.8 rc1 includes a newer QtWebKit 2.2, which of course should support it!
I do not think that this is directly related to QtWebKit, but affected to the installation or the packaging (i.e. Qt 4.8 rc1 itself), because QtWebKit 2.2 itself still supports those html5 features. A missing support for video / audio could also be caused by missing Multimedia support (as someone stated in some forum), but QtMultimedia4.dll is also available.
So, something seems to be corrupted in the packaging of the Qt 4.8 rc1.
A colleague could reproduce the problem (he just quickly installed the 4.8 rc1 without old Qt-stuff on his machine), so it should be easy for everyone else to reproduce it.
[ The problem still occured if I recompiled the sources of Qt 4.8 rc1 with VS2010 for myself. ]
