I set up this clone because not a single QT developer seems to have taken notice that, after closing the bug more than two years ago it's still present and affects many many people. You should know that an end-user will NOT come here to vote or comment on a bug because he doesn't know about it.
All he knows is, that he has to set his printing options in the printing dialog again every single time because his system doesn't remember them but more so even ignores what he set as defaults in cups. And that's really a shame for a sophisticated piece of software like Qt...
I've attached a patch that was proposed in a related discussion in the KDE bug tracker. It's meant to fix the most common annoyances that Qt's printing dialog shows by making it read duplex, colate and color settings from CUPS if possible. This fix has been reported to work and is incorporated by some but not all major distributions.
So PLEASE: someone from Qt... look at this fix and commit it... you'd make a lot of people very happy but the best part is: you'd even help saving even more trees by applying this patch
