    Description

      I am using XFCE. I also have a few KDE apps running. I also use cairo-ubuntu, freetype2-ubuntu, fontconfig-ubuntu and libxft-ubuntu (ubuntu patched components for better looking fonts).
      All was fine with my fonts until upgrade on 2011/12/22
      These packages were upgraded:

      [2011-12-22 18:55] upgraded wine (1.3.35-1 -> 1.3.35-3)

      Since then my KDE apps had different fonts. I do regular backups of my configuration and have not found any differences that would look like suspects (I suspect QT/KDE upgrade though) apart from contents of /etc/fonts/conf.d directory.
      Setting fonts/conf.d directory back to previous settings did not solve the problem.

      My KDE font hinting setting is set to slight. In XFCE I have it set to full. If I set it in /etc/fonts to full, I get no hinting.
      If I set my hinting in KDE's system settings to enabled and full, it does not work as well. If I set it to slight the it works and I get the desired fonts look.
      But when I log out of XFCE and log back in, KDE fonts are again bad. It appears to be set to slight in KDE settings. I have to set it to anything else and then back again to slight and prefered font is back until next logout.
      What can I do to keep this settings and to have them when I start my system?

      I hope this report is not completelly of, if so, I am sorry.
