Start the mapviewer application. Zoom out of the highest level in a window that is wider that the dimensions of the tile. The default label for the location appears on the grey area.

Visually and aesthetically this appears a bit on the ugly side. See the screenshot attached. On some map applications the cylindrical mercator projection is represented by tiles that are repeated the width of the display.
