Text highlighting highlights newline

If I highlight a text which spans multiple lines, the newline symbol gets highlighted as space.
It's a bit confusing as it can be mistaken for a space at the end of a line.
It doesn't happen if the text isn't editable (second screenshot).
The first screenshot shows the issue at the end of the first line.
