Qt Creator Design Mode fields missing or broken

Following the "Transitions" tutorial, after dragging the states.png file to the same folder as the main.qml file, it does not show in the Library/Resources tab. But it does show in the "File System" selection. Upon further investigation, adding a filter of ., there is some garbage displayed which actually is the file, that is, it can be dragged and the icon graphic then appears and moves with the mouse pointer. See attached screenshot (ResorsBug.bmp). Without the filter, there is a thin white (or blue) line which also is the png file and can be dragged. See second attachment (ResorsBug0.bmp).
