Backspace and Delete work improperly in Replace mode

    Description

      Reproduce:

      1. enter Replace mode over some text
      2. press <Backspace>; or
      2. press <Delete>

      Backspace should replace the left character to what it was before entering Replace mode and move left. Delete should delete right character
