Description
The new user crashes and burns on trying to follow the introduction. E.g., User goes to "Building and Running an Example Application". Following instructions, (s)he selects the "Show Examples and Demos" check box (after finding it tucked at the bottom of the page). Do Step 1: "Select the Show Examples and Demos check box, and then search for Toys: Clocks Example..." The tutorial disappears, with no Back button in the GUI. Restart or open two instances of the GUI, one for the example and one for the tutorial. Go to step 2: "Select targets for the project." How to do this is not described, and is not discoverable in the "Toys: Clocks Example" when selected. A "Target Setup" menu is shown in the doc, but can't be found in the actual example. Giving up, user tries things on his own, e.g., creating an empty project. A target setup requirement appears, with the only choice being "Symbian Device." The Next button is grayed out until the user selects Symbian Device.
Get the idea? Experienced users may never see this stuff, or know workarounds, but the new user thrashes in quicksand. PLEASE sit down with some new users, WATCH them getting started with the SDK, and FIX the stuff that causes them to tear their hair.
