    Description

I have been using QtC for some time, and no matter what i do i can not add new plug-ins. I have tried everything i know to get them imported, and built. However, they always fail and the entire process is length and arduous. There need to be a much easier way.

      Suggestions:

      • Make it so that Maintenance Tool (or something similar) can be used to install other plugins. It should be no more difficult to add a plugin to QtC than it is to actually install QtC.
      • Make plugins more flexible with their version requirements. All plugins should be upward compatible. It should (almost) never be the case that updating QtLib or QtC breaks a plugin. This slows progress and creates luddites.
      • Make it easier for 3rd parties to create installers for their plugins. Of all the plugins to be found in the enormous QtC Plugin Gallery, only one can be found that has installable binaries.
      • Make it easier for end users to FIND the plugins. As far as i can tell, the only place where anyone bothers to make a list of plugins that can be added to QtC, is the Plugin Gallery, and it’s worthless. Most of the plugins there are either built in, or they are references to source code that has no documentation about how to install it. Many of them are out of date, or not developed enough to be of any possible use. A much larger list that would do almost the same would be to just search the Import>Gitorious listing for mentions of “Qt”. Even if i can get all the source code for the plugins i want and need, i still can’t use it. There is no helpful documentation to be found, and no instruction on how to solve the problem on my own.
      • Improve the documentation. There are so many areas that the core documentation fails to address, or even allude to. There is no external documentation worth looking at that can be referenced either.
