When session has expired user gets application error instead of being redirected to login page

When gerrit web interface is left open in the browser until the session expires
some pages are still viewable (cached ones probably) but other where new data
is fetched returns "application error". The user should instead be redirected
to the login page because an expired session is not an application error.
