The SHA-1 commits are not searchable in Gerrit.

For example, I need to search for 89ab2671051671ecf440ba480caf0b6b6768b1a9 commit, since this commit has been back-ported. I cannot just search 89ab2671051671ecf440ba480caf0b6b6768b1a9 in the upper right search field in Gerrit. Using commit:89ab2671051671ecf440ba480caf0b6b6768b1a9 format also do not work.

Searching for Change-Id works in the search field. However, we might not know the Change-Id of the commit in some scenarios. Thus, the SHA-1 commit search should be supported.
