    Description

Current Qt Visual Studio add-in requires Visual Studio Professional which is not free and Visual C++ Express does not support plugin. Visual Studio Shell (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=8e5aa7b6-8436-43f0-b778-00c3bca733d3) is free and many projects have support for integration (IronPython for example) in this type of shell. The shell is an empty IDE with no language components and can be customized using extensions for Visual Studio Shell (see the IronPython Tools for Visual Studio). As there is no language component, users can install the Visual C++ SDK for a C++ compiler and libraries. If you can support the Visual Studio Shell, it will be a great alternative. I am more familiar with Visual Studio and I would like to see a production environment for Qt in Visual Studio without paying for Visual Studio professional as Visual C++ Express does not support plugin.
