Description
Often I split a text editor in Qt creator in half. This makes working on two files in parallel fairly easy.
But when I need to focus on only one of the files the splitted view is distracting or takes to much room.
Under such circumstances it would be nice if one can maximize the active editor with a keyboard shortcut.
The program "terminator" has such a feature as well. It is a terminal program that brings multiple shells in one window rather than tabs. The keyboard shortcuts <Ctrl><Shift><O> and <Ctrl><Shift><E> let you split a view hOrizontally and vErtically. When you decide to maximize a shell you can type <Ctrl><Shift><X> and the active shell with take all the space of the terminator window. It is important to note, that the other shells are not destroyed. In fact, when you hit <Ctrl><Shift><X> again, you return to your custom splitted window.
For Qt-Creator I can think of a similar feature.
It would also be nice to be able to shrink and enlarge an editor using keyboard shortcuts rather than the mouse. For vertical and horizontal shrinking and enlarging, terminator has the shortcuts <Ctrl><Shift><Up/Down/Left/Right-Arrow>
